MEDIA RELEASE
MAZDA HYBRID RUGBY KICKS OFF
9.00am Friday, 9th October, 2015
The inaugural Mazda Hybrid Rugby fixture kicks off this coming Sunday 11th
October at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta. Foundation clubs in their respective
codes, Randwick Rugby Union ands Wests Magpies Rugby League will take
to the field for a 3.00pm start to see who can hold aloft the Mazda Hybrid
Challenge Cup.
Co-founder of the Mazda hybrid concept and Randwick Legend Mark Ella said
“this concept will be a winner for both codes and will capture the imagination
of the Australian public and the world at large”.
“With innovations such as the implementation of a “60 second shot clock”
whilst in possession, it will create a new meaning to the phrase “use it or lose
it”. “
West rugby League legend Tommy Raudonikis chipped in by saying “ Mazda
Hybrid rugby will be fast, exciting and great entertainment value for all footy
fans. Can’t wait to see it”.
A combination (or hybrid ) of both Rugby League and Rugby Union rules will
see 13 players on the field for 4 x 20 minute quarters. Whether you are a
league or a union fan, perhaps Mazda Hybrid Rugby may answer a few
questions on which code can get the upper hand and adopt the best to the
each others rules.
